A first-timer's guide to Spiti Valley

Spiti is not a difficult place to visit, but it is an easy place to visit badly.
Go between May and October. Give yourself two nights below 11,000 ft before sleeping in Kaza. Carry cash — ATMs exist but rarely work. Pack layers, not thick coats.
Most importantly: slow down. Spiti punishes rushed itineraries with headaches and missed weather windows.
